Google Shopping setup — without losing products to silent disapprovals

Getting products into Google Shopping isn't just about uploading a feed. Your store, policies, Merchant Center settings, and feed all need to agree with each other. Mismatches between them are the #1 reason products are silently disapproved.

The full path: store → Merchant Center → Shopping campaign

  1. Storefront readiness — policies, contact, trust signals, product page quality.
  2. Merchant Center account — created with matching business identity, verified, claimed.
  3. Product feed — pushed from Shopify, WooCommerce, or a manual upload. Validated against required attributes.
  4. Shipping & tax settings — configured to match your store policies and country settings.
  5. Account link to Google Ads — enables Shopping campaigns to use the feed.
  6. Shopping campaign created — after Merchant Center status is approved + products are active.

Submitting products without rejections

After your feed is connected, Merchant Center re-checks every 24–48 hours. Most rejections fall into these buckets:

  • Image rejections — text overlay, low resolution, generic stock.
  • Price-mismatch rejections — feed price differs from landing page or cart.
  • Availability mismatch — feed says in stock, page says sold out.
  • Missing GTIN/MPN for branded items.
  • Restricted/prohibited products — even when accidental.
